I don't know whose fault it is (24 August 2010)
The product was fairly priced and quickly delivered. I have no complaints about the vendor.

However, getting the game to run on my Vista-powered PC has been difficult and disappointing. I thought my granddaughter would enjoy playing as much as my daughter and I did years ago when the product was new. Instead we battle constant computer freezes. I think that the far faster and more powerful computer that I own today should provide a vastly improved experience. Instead, we pretty much have tossed Oregon Trail aside, and overall, I think it is a waste of money to me.

The Oregon Trail (01 August 2010)
This was purchased for my son. He would play this game all day if we would let him. He loves the way he is in charge of the group of people and that their fate is in his hands. He says it is like the people are real, they can become ill, get bitten by a snake(if not careful), drown if not careful when crossing streams/rivers. It's the next best thing to being there. I would highly recommend this game to anyone and for the price, it's a great learning experience for kids of all ages.

Oregon Trail is a great educational game. (22 July 2010)
Oregon Trail is great when brought to the classroom instead of textbooks but can it compete? I find this game enjoyable and fun for a more education alternative but this game seems to be in my cabinet more than Wii Fit or Halo. The game can be really enjoyed by casual and maybe hardcore gamers but still can't seem to catch up to my liking of games that are in my Xbox or Wii.

This game is more of a decision game where you travel the Oregon Trail, but before you go, you have to supply yourself with goods. Then most of the game is making decisions like what medicine to use, which way to cross the river, or how many days to rest. The main part of action in the game is the hunting and the fishing where you use your own strategy and not just making decisions. That's the part of the game I liked the most, not because of the hunting but because I was doing it. And that's what leads my opinion on the answer of the question I asked in the beginning of this review. If this game wants to compete and be more enjoyable it has to have the player doing the work not making the decisions. I like games because of the fulfillment of my work. I have strong beliefs that video games can teach and can make a big impacted in the schools and this game is just the start.

  game review (21 July 2010)
My fiancee and I ordered this game because we remembered playing it as kids in school. The ordering process was easy and we recieved our product quickly.

  Extremely Poor Design !!! (14 July 2010)
Cast your pole in the water to catch a fish, I see fish, they don't move. Never ever !!! click on the guide or diary if you do there is no way to resume the game, you must use control alt and delete buttons and then click on end program now. Even knowing NOT to click on dairy or guide One will unintentionly click on it and you will have heck getting back to your desk top. A good thing I do like is the fact one can see how many $$$$ they have as they travel. OREGON TRAIL 5TH EDITION PC
