WORST Nancy Drew Game EVER (15 May 2010)
Generally I love the ND games because I love solving mysteries and puzzles. However, I gave this game two tries and just couldn't take the ridiculous forest navigations. I could not get out of the forest. Either that or the game had bugs. I would follow the arrows and it would lead me to the same landscape/screen over and over again. FRUSTRATING and gave me dizzy spells. Even my bf couldn't take the game and he loves navigation games. Horrible design of forest and navigation arrows. Do not buy.

Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake: Entertaining and Creepy! (03 April 2010)
I am 14 yrs old and have enjoyed nearly all of the Nancy Drew games since I was eight. While "Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake" was not the very best Nancy Drew, it still deserves five stars. I will divide my review into sections to take a more detailed look at the game.

Game-play (****): In this Nancy Drew game, the game-play was a bit lacking. At times I felt that one character was telling me the exact thing another character told me prior to that conversation. Also, I only interacted with the ghost dogs once. I was disappointed because I wanted to see them more closely. In addition, I would often have questions that I longed to ask certain suspects, but the question never appeared in conversation box. I give Game-play a disappointed (****) because I felt the plot line and character interaction was overlapping as well as very lacking at some points in the game.

Graphics\Setting (*****): Despite my annoyance toward HER for their lacking game-play, all of my hard-feelings are blown away by the graphics. The setting was creepy and a bit nerve-shaking! Many interesting places like the old broken down shack, dark and spooky cemetery, and the quaint antiques shop, add a whimsical and mysterious air to the whole game. Watch out for the twisting forest, (which is extremely frightening to sleuth in by moonlight) because it may leave you lost and confused. In fact, I needed to turn to a penciled map to find my way through the tangled brush. I give the detailed Graphics and stunningly realistic setting (*****) for complexity and quality.

Plot (*****): The plot, while far-fetched and a bit stereotypical, was surprisingly complex, and it even gave a tug on the heart strings. As the facts are reveled, layer by layer, Nancy finds herself thrown head-long into another mystery. Whispers of hidden gold are hinted at from faded photos and scrawled diaries. Also, at night, the old Mickey Malone place is haunted by his 'phantom dogs'. They, along with glowing eyes and snarling teeth, attempt to chase the new owner, Nancy's friend, off of the property; as if to protect something. Nancy must live in the shack, alone, and try to uncover whatever is making these dogs act so wild. I give Plot (*****).

Characters (****): The suspects in this game had a lot of potential at the beginning of the game; however, they did not live up to what I anticipated. One of the characters, Emily Griffin, is an antique dealer who apparently illegally drags antiques from the lake. She speaks in slang and is really a colorful character, but Nancy only has a conversation with her about four times. She never has her own opinion, she simply always affirms what the Park Ranger, Jeff Akers, states. Jeff Akers is rumored to be an irritating Ranger who overrates park rules. But when I saw him through Nancy's eyes, I found him very pleasant to converse with. He seemed smart and seemed to merely want to protection for the animals in the woods. There is one more suspect, Red Knott, to whom Nancy only speaks with once. He is a real Eagle Scout, keeping in mind the classic boy-scout motto: "Always Be Prepared". He spends his time in a tree, staring into the sky or making bird calls. (He is a bird watcher). I give Characters (****) because really they fit the whole theme of the game, however character interaction had much to be desired.

Puzzles (*****): Even though most of the "puzzles" were more of tasks that needed to be completed, there were some hard-core ones later in the game. Some of these tasks included: Fixing an outboard motor, Hunting down bugs and insects, laying a new floor in the shack, taking pictures of certain birds, rearranging a display in the shop, testing pump water, cleaning areas infested with mice, and arranging folders by date (in Roman Numerals). Some of the real puzzles included: cracking a safe, navigating into a hidden speakeasy, unlocking a fake tombstone, pulling on spigots in a certain order to open a door, and turning dog figurines to reveal a secret tunnel. I give puzzles (*****) for being diverse and not too complicated.

Overall (*****): While the game had a few bugs and was a bit "out there", it was still extremely fun and challenging, bringing out that "I'm Nancy Drew" feeling in everyone, young and old alike.

I also highly recommend: Warnings at Waverly Academy, Treasure in the Royal Tower, Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon and Danger on Deception Island

One of the better games of Nancy Drew (05 February 2010)
If you are a Nancy Drew fan and liked other mysteries you'll like this game. The story is interesting and so are the puzzles. One difficult thing for me was navigating the forest because its all left and right type of a maze. It took me nearly 3 days to complete this game. out of all the ND mysteries I solved this is top 10.

Not as scary a game as it could have been (13 December 2009)
I was expecting another game like "Message in a Haunted Mansion" when I saw the cover for this game, but although the first scenes in the game were a little freaky, it's not as scary as the box makes it seem.

Story-One of your friends, Sally McDonald, has asked you to come help her with a mystery at her house (which is really a log cabin in the middle of nowhere). She won't tell you over the phone what's scaring her, though, and when you get to her house, she's gone! You soon find out that dogs with glowing eyes have been attacking her house, and they have scared her away. You can call her in the game, so don't think she's been kidnapped or something.

Graphics-They were pretty good, and the dogs didn't look that bad. The characters still need some work, and the backgrounds could be better, but overall, I love the graphics.

Sound-The music has a slight country twist on it, and although I hate country music the music isn't that bad in the game. The voice acting could have been better, but it's not as bad as it's been before.

Gameplay-The car you drove up in is blocked by a tree that fell down right behind it, so you have to get around via motorboat, which you have to fix first. Also, there are only 3 characters in the game, so it really gives you the feeling that this is definitely not the city anymore. Point-and-click is the same. So is calling Bess and George for hints. There is a tad bit of history in this game but not as much as in the last game. Thank goodness! You have to choose day or night, however, and you don't have an alarm clock in this game.

Fun-Yeah, this is a fun game, but as before mentioned in other reviews, the puzzles don't have much to do with the story, and they revolve a lot around Roman numerals. The puzzles aren't great, but the story really makes up for it. Still, the story is not the least bit scary, but it is still a great story.

Length-Not as long as the last one, playing this one through is about 10 hours, but of course, the first time you play it, it will be longer. It does have a replay value, but the puzzles are rather dull that I just don't bother with this game that much.

A great game with an excellent story but rather dull puzzles. I definitely recommend buying it, though!

Good plot, Bad puzzles (28 November 2009)
The game was a good mix of elements. It had a good plot -- find out who is scaring people away with phony ghost dogs and why -- and the three suspects were all interesting and all suspicious in their own way. The idea of the historical mystery was also good and realistic, it was simply the execution that was lacking.

And by that, I mean the puzzles related to the historical componant made no sense. Or rather made no sense with the information you were given by the historical figure. Instead you're supposed to solve a number of the puzzles not using information gathered from research, but by a conveniently placed modern primer on Roman Numerals. This was very frustrating to find that all the hard sleuthing work would turn up nothing. I dislike having to go to walkthroughs for solutions, but even worse is reading the solution and finding that the writer doesn't know why that's the solution either, it's just simply the way the game works. I'm just not a fan of poking things until something works, I like to go in armed with the info to solve the problem.

The modern puzzles/tasks were fine and interesting if you're in the mood for a nature hike and learning about birds and birdwatching.
