It just doesn't seem to like newer hardware, however OS seemed to make no difference. We tried it on 3 different computers before we gave in and got out the old one. It loads, it starts, it gets a few minutes in to the game, then it goes down on all the new machines we tried it on. As long as you are running a system about 4 years old or more, you should be fine (which really means most PC's that younger kids are allowed to use will work). Once you get it working, it's a great game, my kids even play it for fun. We hooked the old PC up to our TV, so all 3 of our younger kids can watch each other play, and the competition inspires them to pay more attention to how problems are solved. It's good for logical thinking as well as math. Worth the cost, for sure. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Nice learning game (03 December 2009)Fun learning game. My niece likes playing the game. She's putting to use the things she's learning in school and having fun at the same time. Some of the math problems can be a bit challenging for her. Overall she likes playing it and I like that she's learning from it too. No issues with loading or playing the game either, it's on XP. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() son's favorite (23 September 2009)My son loves the Cluefinders series. Even though the math in it is challenging for him (because speed is often necessary), the rewards are fun and motivating enough that he sticks with it until he beats the game. He also finds the characters and the setting amusing. I recommend it highly, especially as something for kids to play with over the summer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not as good [...] (17 July 2009)I went cheap and bought this for my 3rd grader because it was on sale. Unfortunately, since she's used [...]products in the past, she was disappointed. I found the software to be pretty decent[...] She ended up using her birthday money to buy the one she wanted. The math was helpful on here though and I found there to be less dialogue and more learning on this one, although with all of these games there seems to be a lot of dialogue. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() does not work on OSX (02 June 2009)There are two discs in the package. One does not work on OSX at all. The other disc says that it will work on OSX. My laptop running the lastest OSX software though was unable to run it as well. A total waste of money. |
